Home
by Nina Leonard
It's easy to forget that not everyone has the luxury of constant
shelter. In this photograph, the little girl who is sitting in the
shopping cart is smiling. She doesn't seem to mind that all of her
belongings are stashed in the small suitcase next to her, and that
her destination is unknown. |

Identify Yourself
by Teresa Hodge
If someone doesn't know who you are, how do you prove it? I chose
to take a close-up photo of various identifications and other pieces
of information used on a regular basis throughout one's life. As
your eyes glaze over the photo, you notice that all fo the information
has been smudged, blurred, and erased to the point where you can't
read it at all.

Prejudice
by Mechelle Giroux
Right after 9/11 happened, many Americans
directed their hatred toward Arab people because the terrorist group
was of that ethnicity. This undue hatred caused many Arab people
to be beaten, harassed, and eventually leave this country, when
they had nothing to do with the act of terror, nor did they condone
it. I think this is a very big social issue that needed to be addressed.

Preservation
by Jeannine Escobar
This photograph is of my old sneakers that
are dilapidated. Although they no longer fit me properly, I hold
onto them because they represent a younger and more carefree time
in my life.

Carlyn, the girl in the picture, has a very high risk of developing
melanoma, and her moles, which have been removed, would have been
the cause.

While
on spring break, I traveled tomany countries, including MExico,
Belize and Honduras. When we were about to dock in Honduras, i had
no idea that when I stepped off the cruise boat I would experience
what my pictures describe. One cannot imagine the poverty that these
people live in. |
