  Religious Values
by Robert Veesaert

I have been given the impression in my life that the Catholic Church has always been financially secure. To satisfy my interest in where the church was located in Tampa, I set off on a quest in search of Sacred Heart. Even though the building was beautiful, it still appeared to be hidden next to the large bank next to it. It seemed to be hiding in the shadow of the financial center. The point I am trying to make with this photograph is that, even though religion is important, it seems to come second-best in my opinion to the city of Tampa.
  (Chicago)
by Julia Menard

The picture represents the fact that the city is always in motion; it never stops. Also in the background there is the reflection of the inside of the building I was standing in. In this reflection there is an exit sign in the top left corner. The exit sign can be seen as a symbol of how to get out of the crazy non-stop life.

Now and Then
"Life was Better in Black and White"
by Leah Cramer

What was a better way to live, now or then? Then things were simple. There was not a lot of technology. There were rules and people seemed to follow them. Things seemed easy. Just how black and white symbolizes simplicity. Then the world of color arrived. Technology exploded. There are now computers, cell phones, satellites. The world is complex.

  Living Around Death
by Karen Lynch

The purpose of this picture is to show how life and death can be seen around each other right in front of our eyes. This particular cemetery is located on Columbus Drive and is one of the closest to the road I have ever seen.
What more could you ask for?
Becky Steinhardt

This represents how our society is such a busy one. We always want instant gratification. We are always rushing to make a deadline or meet friends. This is what kids our age and younger do. They just hang out. It's what everyone, no matter what age, should do every now and then.
  Irony of Anticipation
by Rachel Parkhust

This piece intends to illustrate how our world seems to sit and wait for beauty and perfection in life, almost as if it were out of a fairy tale, while in the meantime creating disruption. The photo was going to be called "Anticipation" and it was going to be left as a Hallmark card, but I felt my idea with the car could really display a lot of meaning. I then decided to go to the graphics art center and give my photograph some depth. After I scanned the picture, I proceeded to copy in a picture of a New Beetle and place it in the center. After receiving much help with all of this, I attempted to draw skidding marks from the car to illustrate it driving onto the photo. The car is placed into the photo in color as a focal point of colorful disruption.
  Are You Being Watched?
Erin Landers

We are living in a world that is obsessed with looking good and being "appropriate" at all costs. People are judged on their appearances and the things they do. The lines of what is socially appropriate are narrowing day by day.
